Artists’ Voice has been instigated by a group of East Midlands artists from a wide range of disciplines who make their living through their practice and who work either individually or on collaborative projects.

Artists’ Voice was instigated  with the aim of providing a space for individual artists to share ideas and experience and to ensure that the voice of the individual practitioner is recognised in the maelstrom of debate over policy and priorities across the whole strata of arts provision.

Working with Cultural Consortium, the network are currently shaping a series of provocative debates to be held across the East Midlands region with the aim of engaging with those artists who feel that they have insights to offer and questions to ask and who wish to discuss, argue, advocate and campaign for their position as valuable members of society.

In spring 2011, we have set up and managed discussions in collaboration, at different times with Mighty Creatives, Nottingham Playhouse and Nottingham Trent University, which have looked at international creative collaborations, the Arts Council's Goal 5 (that "Every child and young person has the opportunity to experience the richness of the arts") and a talk by artist Chris Dobowlski, Artist in Residence in British Antarctica.
